Coach Jonny

Coach Jonny is one of the owners of CrossFit Conquest. He was Born in Plymouth NH, in the middle of about 10 ski resorts and moved to Florida in 1994. As a kid, he loved martial arts and being outside. He was lucky enough to grow up surrounded by mountains, rivers and lakes. He likes to say that he had the best childhood ever! Jonny also grew up playing in most sports. He learned about Crossfit from YouTube and Crossfit.com early on! He started participating in Crossfit in 2007, then began coaching in 2010 when he first opened Conquest.

AS A COACH:

Favorite Movement: Handstand Pushups

Least favorite Movement: Heavy Dead lift

Favorite thing about Coaching:  Seeing those that would never think about getting off the couch to workout, come in and get hooked on CF. That's when we see the magic happen, the huge transformations. This is by far the most rewarding. We are saving people's lives, or at least adding many years to them!

IT'S ALL ABOUT BALANCE:

He LOVES the movies; Going to them and watching them at home.  He enjoys watching the trailers to upcoming movies. His all-time favorite is Star Wars of course, which ironically was the first movie he ever saw in the movie theatre.  His dad took me when he was 7.

Hobbies now are obviously CF, and I love to play the guitar, although I don't do it as much as I should.  And seeing new places!

Three other things we don't know about you:
1. I have a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and competed nationally for many years.
2. I went to Northeastern University and have a pre-law degree as well as a minor in finance.
3. My first car was a 1973 VW superbeatle. By far my favorite car I've ever owned!

ADVICE TO ATHLETES:

CF is a marathon. Not a sprint.

It's going to take time to master some of the movements and even then, it won't be perfect. We are always learning. It took me 2 years to overhead squat.

So be patient. It will come. And most of all have fun, enjoy the journey.
